The Aurora Borealis has been making a spectacular appearance over Iceland in recent days. The Aurora is an incredible light show caused by collisions between particles from the sun that enter the earth’s atmosphere. The display can be quite mesmerising and really can only be seen best around the magnetic poles in the Northern and Southern hemisphere.

Those lucky enough to witness this amazing natural light display are more than likely doing so in the Northern Hemisphere, as the magnetic south pole is in Antarctica. So unless your a scientist working there, you probably won’t get to see it ‘down under’.

If you get the chance to visit as close as you can to the North Pole, you will be enchanted by this natural display of lights.
